About Dr. Torti

Robert E. Torti, MD, is a dedicated ophthalmologist with over 30 years of experience and a leader in the Dallas and North Texas vitreoretinal community. He’s part of the team at Retina Specialists, treating patients at the practice’s locations in Plano, DeSoto, and Waxahachie, Texas.

Dr. Torti graduated summa cum laude with a degree in electrical engineering from The University of Memphis’s Herff College of Engineering in Tennessee. He shifted gears after graduating and decided to pursue his medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, where he graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

He pursued rigorous postgraduate training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, completing an internship, an ophthalmology residency, and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship before starting his vitreoretinal practice in 1992.

Dr. Torti is a Tennessee native, and when he’s not working, he enjoys motorbikes, snowboarding, horse breeding, and computer programming.
